The Plitvice Lakes National Park is Croatia's most popular tourist attraction.
It is considered to be one of the most beautiful natural sights in Europe. The National Park covers a total area of 300 square kilometres. This national park is definite must-see in Croatia.
In 1979 the park was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
The beauty of the National Park lies in its sixteen lakes, inter-connected by a series of waterfalls, and set in deep woodland populated by deer, bears, wolves, boars and rare bird species. Veliki Slap, the largest waterfall is 70m tall. Kozjak - largest and deepest lake on Plitvice National Park. The blue-green clear waters, flowing down waterfalls as you walk along the boardwalks create the feeling that you are floating on air.
The barriers, sills and other forms created in these lakes, karst rivers and streams is still an ongoing process that shapes the wonderful landscapes that make your walk through the park so enjoyable. Plitvice Lakes isn’t just for summer. It’s a stunning place to visit any time of year.
The roaring thunder of the water as it hits the ground is unforgettable!
